The publication earlier this year of Asian Christian Theology was a great joy for me. It is also an excellent work that highlights the core vision of Langham Publishing in its focus on a vast part of the church of Jesus, but a part that is outside the Western world. For although the Majority World church is growing so fast in comparison to the church in the West, very few books are published that reflect that reality.
Langham seeks to address this imbalance by coming alongside Majority World theological and preaching networks, publishers and authors to listen, encourage, and engage – through individuals and organisations around the world. We thank God and continue to depend on his guidance in this. So it is a great pleasure to introduce you to three key Langham staff members, based and working in Africa and Asia. Drs Andria (Francophone Africa), Mburu (Anglophone Africa) and Villanueva (Asia) are our ears and heart in hearing, encouraging and interacting with authors in each of their particular contexts, identifying the sort of resources that are needed to support pastors, students and researchers there.
This year God has blessed us with a rich harvest of publications: a theology textbook and several new commentaries for, and from Asia; two textbooks specifically designed for African students – one on hermeneutics, one on the early church; and an in-depth look at Christology in Latin America from one of the region’s most renowned evangelical scholars to be published next month. And many more excellent resources. I encourage you to browse our website, or pick up a book or two from these new releases, and experience for yourself the blessing of these voices from the body of Jesus Christ around the world.
Blessings,
Pieter Kwant
